Artist Louis Carreon Joins the Masters at Aspen's M.S. Rau

Marking his next chapter, contemporary artist Louis Carreon enters the company of master painters at M.S. Rau in Aspen.

Carreon will host “Art, Wine and Iconography” from 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 28 in partnership with M.S. Rau at 307 S. Galena St. He will also share the stage with Ori Soltes, a noted art historian and teaching professor at Georgetown University in a private reception Aug. 27.

Born in California, Carreon began his career as a graffiti artist. A self-taught creative, he built his work on passion, reinvention and visual imagery, battling addiction and serving two years in federal prison in his late 20s before finding a way out through his art.  

For Carreon, his Aspen appearance is more than a show. It’s a chance to place his work in a dialogue about art history. He told The Aspen Times he looks forward to sharing art and the visual language he has long studied and made his own.
