One of Patek Philippe’s most important modern complications, the Annual Calendar was invented and patented by the Geneva manufacture in 1996. The ingenious mechanism automatically distinguishes between months of 30 and 31 days, requiring manual correction only once each year at the end of February. This celebrated second generation of the design pairs the complication with a classically proportioned 39mm case, moon-phase display and power-reserve indication.
This especially luxurious wristwatch is crafted entirely of 18K yellow gold, from its smoothly contoured case to its substantial matching bracelet. Its cream-colored lacquered dial presents the calendar information in a remarkably balanced composition, with day and month subsidiary displays, a power-reserve indicator at 12 o’clock and moonphases above the date aperture at 6 o’clock. Applied gold Arabic numerals and baton hour markers lend the highly functional dial an elegant finish. Discontinued in 2021 after approximately 16 years in production, this full-gold wristwatch offers a refined expression of a complication central to Patek Philippe’s modern legacy. It is accompanied by its original box and papers.
Founded in Geneva in 1839, Patek Philippe is regarded as one of the world’s foremost watchmakers. The manufacture is celebrated for its technical innovation, uncompromising craftsmanship and mastery of complicated mechanical timepieces, making its watches among the most coveted by collectors.
