This stunning necklace by Rebecca Rau breathes new life into a bronze ornament originally from Lombardy. Crafted circa 575-625 AD, the decorative element would have originally been suspended from an Italian or Carpathian woman’s belt, hanging just below the waist to follow her movements when worn to ward off evil by drawing attention to itself.

Designer Rebecca Rau reimagines it as a pendant, complemented by 3.86 round spinels nestled into each circular appendage, with a curtain of gems suspended beneath it. The 24.22 carats of peridot cabochons and 7.07 carats of elongated lagoon tourmalines expertly accent the Medieval artifact’s beautiful patina. The converted pendant hangs from a 20th-century Turkish silver chain. Set in 18K yellow gold.
