R. & S. Garrard & Co. held the prestigious position of Crown Jewelers to the English court, creating significant works for the royal family, including Queen Mary's coronation crown and Queen Elizabeth's platinum crown. Robert Garrard's firm became the leading producer of presentation silver in the mid-19th century, inheriting the title of Royal Goldsmiths and Jewelers in 1843. This teapot, a fine example of Garrard's work, comes from the renowned Red McCombs collection, which has been widely studied and celebrated.
