Tulip Cluster Table Lamp
Tiffany Studios
Circa 1900

Brilliantly colored and beautifully composed, this Tiffany Studios Tulip Cluster table lamp captures the naturalistic artistry that made Louis Comfort Tiffany one of America’s greatest designers. The 16-inch shade blooms with clustered tulips in soft yellow, cream and rose tones, set against a warm mottled ground of pink and mauve glass. Rich green stems rise through the composition, giving the shade a graceful sense of movement and balance.

The lamp is complete with its original Tiffany Studios bronze base, whose rounded form and deeply patinated surface complement the organic character of the shade. The Tulip Cluster shade was almost certainly designed by Clara Driscoll and the celebrated Women’s Glass Cutting Department at Tiffany Studios, whose artistry helped define the firm’s most beloved floral lamps.

Introduced during one of Tiffany’s most creative periods, the Tulip Cluster, sometimes known as the Crocus, was selected for display at the landmark 1902 Turin International Exposition, where Tiffany Studios received international acclaim for its innovative glasswork.

Shade and base signed “Tiffany Studios New York”; base bearing the Tiffany Glass and Decorating Company mark and numbered.
