The Chicago Antiques + Art + Design Show, a three-day exhibition of furniture, jewelry, and decorative and fine art from the 17th to 20th century, will take place May 17 through 19 at The Mart. Visitors can browse antiques from new exhibitors and returning favorites in a gallery setting. "The show brings together 60 of the world's top dealers and experts in their fields, providing designers and collectors with a wealth of information as well as visual stimulation," says Rosemary Krieger, the show's organizer. "The show provides an opportunity to observe and explore the history of design concepts and trends over the past several centuries, and how the past often influences the present and future. Plus it's a spectacular shopping experience, offering rare, often one-of-a-kind pieces not to be found anywhere else." AD PRO has outlined which offerings attendees won't want to miss.
The New Class Is Here
Chicago-based Lawrence Converso, one of America’s premier dealers of 20th-century modern objects and furnishings, is new to the show this year. He has galleries in Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles, and was an exhibitor at Art Basel Miami Beach. Also pay attention to Jon Eric Riis of Atlanta, a noted authority of antique textiles, and an artist himself in the medium. Other notable newcomers include Nicholas Wolfe of Chicago, Richard Norton Gallery of Chicago, and TK Asian Antiquities from Williamsburg, Virginia.
Check Out Returning Favorites
Greg Pepin Silver, a show favorite coming from Copenhagen, is returning to the fair with his collection of Georg Jensen silver. Other prominent returning dealers include Trinity House Paintings from London, specializing in Impressionist, Postimpressionist, modern British, and 19th-century work; Haynes Fine Art, specializing in 19th- to 21st-century British and European Paintings; and Medieval and Renaissance manuscript specialist Charles Edwin Puckett, who also brings maps and prints. Don’t miss M.S. Rau Antiques from New Orleans, the internationally recognized fine art dealer of rare antiques, jewelry, and art.
