18K Yellow Gold and Diamond-Studded Cane
Patek Philippe
Circa 1990

Believed to have been commissioned for Prince Tewfik Adil “T.A.” Toussoun of Egypt, this singular Patek Philippe walking stick represents a rare union of royal provenance and the firm’s celebrated decorative arts. A member of the Egyptian royal family, first cousin of King Farouk I and an important Patek Philippe client, Prince Toussoun is further associated with the cane through the “T.A.” monogram engraved on its top.

Patek Philippe did not produce walking sticks as part of its regular collection. Objects of this kind were individually commissioned for the firm’s most distinguished clients, and surviving examples are extraordinarily rare. This cane brings together the specialized artistry of Patek Philippe’s engravers, jewelers and woodworkers: its upper section is richly inlaid with 18K gold engraved with fish swimming among stylized waves, while shimmering diamonds surround octagonal insets along the collar and shaft.

The elegantly tapered hardwood shaft terminates in a horn ferrule and retains its original protective leather covering. Both a functional accessory and a singular expression of Patek Philippe craftsmanship, this remarkable cane is truly extraordinary.
